Society and Sea 2020: The Values of the Ocean and Coasts for Sustainable Development

9-11 September 2020, London, UK

This international Conference is hosted by the Greenwich Maritime Centre at the University of Greenwich, National Maritime and Royal Museums Greenwich and supported by Thames Estuary Partnership, Coastal Partnership Network and the Marine Social Science Network.

As part of exploring the values of the ocean and coasts for sustainable development from multi-disciplinary and multi-sector perspectives the conference is looking for contributions around the following themes:

  • Blue Economy
  • Coastal Communities
  • Migration
  • Gender and diversity
  • Environment and Conservation
  • Wellbeing and Mental Health
  • Fisheries
  • Governance

A first call for papers will be issued in October 2019 and abstracts will be drawn from an international audience. We are actively looking for people interested in organising and running sessions. Please get in touch in advance of the first call to discuss any ideas by emailing gmc@gre.ac.uk.
